We are currently searching for a Paralegal to join our Real Estate department based in our London office. This will be an initial 12 month fixed term contract, but has the potential to be extended. The ideal candidate will have previous Real Estate experience within a City law firm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with drafting, reviewing and organising real estate transaction documents, including NDAs, heads of terms, agreements for sale, sale contracts, development agreements, leases, licences, side letters and ancillary documents.
- Coordinate transaction execution, including managing signing and completion checklists, collating execution copies and preparing completion bibles.
- Support due diligence processes, including collecting title documents, searches, leases, reports, planning documents and maintaining due diligence trackers.
- Liaise with clients, agents, counsel, counterparties and internal legal teams to ensure smooth transaction flow.
- Conduct legal and property-related research to support fee earners on transaction and asset management matters.
- Provide general transactional and administrative support, including proofreading documents, preparing filings and managing correspondence.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Three A-levels at grades “AAB” or above, or equivalent;
- University degree at grade 2:1 or above, or equivalent; and
- Previous experience as a Paralegal, ideally within Real Estate.
Skills and abilities:
- Strong IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF-handling software, email and use of online resources, as well as a willingness to learn and become proficient using unfamiliar software applications;
- Willingness to do overtime at short notice and to work at weekends (if required and by covering on weekend rota);
- Enthusiasm for tackling new and unfamiliar tasks or areas of law;
- Ability to work well without close supervision;
- Ability to keep on top of high volumes of email traffic;
- High level of attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Ability to work well with others and assist co-workers;
- Willingness to tackle administrative tasks (e.g. printing, maintaining case files, etc.) as well as more complex legal work;
- Ability to identify problems, gather information, develop and assess alternative courses of action and propose solutions to supervising Attorneys;
- Logical and analytical approach to problem solving;
- Ability to use initiative and also to know when to ask for guidance;
- Remains calm under pressure;
- Produces thorough but clear and concise written work;
- Perceptive, with an enthusiasm for understanding the wider context for work and identifying new issues and opportunities
