If you were the Applications Engineer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Partnering closely with the Architecture & Technology team on enterprise standards and cross-domain patterns
- Working side-by-side with the Senior Product Manager to design and deliver integrations that support the roadmap
- Leading end-to-end design, build, development, and support of Workday integrations
- Owning data connectivity of people data from P&C across internal systems and downstream vendors as approved and agreed upon
- Defining and enforcing best-practice reusable patterns, canonical data models, error handling, monitoring, and resilience standards
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
- Leading the shift to event-driven and API-first architecture across the corporate stack
- Building self-service integration capabilities for the broader tech organization
- Partnering closely with AMER Sports to co-develop and align integration support processes, runbooks, and SLAs tailored to Arc'teryx’s growing needs
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation across Arc'teryx and AMER Sports (shared support model; primary coverage during core business hours + escalation support outside core business hours).
- Automating testing, deployment, and monitoring to reduce incident response time
- Partnering on global and cross-functional projects that make our systems work seamlessly across regions and functions
Are you our next Application Engineer?
- You have 5+ years delivering and supporting enterprise integrations in complex corporate environments
- You are capable of performing root-cause analysis on "Break-Fix" tickets when data doesn't land correctly in a downstream system
- You have excellent communication and the ability to translate complex technical topics into relatable, simple points for non-technical partners
- You are building robust error handling and monitoring, including self-healing mechanisms or proactive notifications for failed file deliveries
- You are capable of conducting semi-annual regression testing of all existing integrations during Workday major releases (R1 and R2) to prevent breakage from new features or API changes
- Configuring Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) for high-speed inbound/outbound bulk integrations (e.g., mass compensation changes, employee data loads).
- You are capable of leveraging Core Connectors and pre-built templates for standard Workday-to-third-party connectivity
- You are capable of creating calculated fields and business logic within Workday to support accurate data extraction for vendors.
- You are capable of developing complex, custom integrations in Workday Studio (Eclipse-based) when EIB or Connectors are insufficient for high-volume, logic-heavy scenarios requiring advanced error handling, retries, or Java-like processing
- You are capable of managing Workday security fundamentals: Integration System Users (ISUs), Integration System Security Groups (ISSGs), and domain permissions
- You are capable of working with core formats and protocols: XML/XSLT/XPath transformations, SOAP/REST/WWS APIs, CSV/Fixed Width/JSON file handling
