AVK-SEG is a leading delivery partner within the mission-critical and data centre sector, supporting global hyperscale and colocation clients across Europe and beyond.
As demand accelerates for Power Generation Infrastructure across continental Europe, Germany has become a cornerstone of our growth strategy, and as such, AVK have committed to opening a new AVK office base, expected to be in either Frankfurt or Berlin.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead the Greenfield setup of this office (against our German business entity), support our growth in winning new European projects, and spearhead the recruitment of an operational team (of 6-8 people initially, with many more hires expected as new contracts are secured).
This role offers a highly competitive salary (aligned to level of experience), and a bonus structure providing the chance to earn up to 50% of base salary.
Main Responsibilities
- Full accountability for the German regional P&L, including a €300m+ pipeline
- Act as the senior escalation point for clients and internal stakeholders
- Represent AVK-SEG at executive and client level in Germany
- Establish AVK-SEG’s German regional office (Frankfurt or Berlin)
- Recruit, lead, and develop an initial team of circa 7–8 people in Y1, scaling rapidly thereafter
- Provide senior oversight of mission-critical, Power Generation projects (for Data Centers and beyond)
- Ensure delivery meets the expectations of UK and US-based clients
- Balance local German delivery practices with international client requirements
- Build trusted relationships with our client base, principal contractors, sub-contractors, and cross-functional inter-company teams, including exec-leadership.
- Contribute to AVK-SEG’s broader European growth strategy and team structure(s)
Requirements
- Currently operating at Director / Associate Director / Project Director level
- Full Right to Work in Germany
- Fluent in English and German language
- Proven experience setting up teams, offices, or new business units
- Experience working in an inter-company multi-national setup (ideally that has included UK or US teams)
- Strong operational background in project delivery and mission-critical construction projects (ideally for power infrastructure or M&E)
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and highly adaptable
- Strong ownership mindset and natural self-starter
- Able to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day operational involvement
