The Lifeguard position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all swimmers and guests. Duties include continuous surveillance of the pool area, consistent enforcement of safety and park regulations, and prompt, effective response to emergency situations. Lifeguards also play an important role in promoting water safety, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
Successful candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas, water attractions, and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all residents and guests.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, including water rescues, first aid incidents, or any other safety concerns.
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations in a firm but courteous manner to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Perform opening tasks such as leaf blowing and sweeping the pool deck and surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness. Inspect and clean restrooms to ensure they are stocked and ready for use.
- Perform closing duties such as cleaning the restrooms at the end of each shift to ensure they are ready for use the next day. Take out trash and recyclables from pool areas and surrounding park spaces ensuring a neat and tidy facility.
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor at all times, interacting clearly with residents, guests, and staff respectfully and courteously.
Requirements
Position Requirements
- Nocatee Lifeguards are required to have an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. The Red Cross requires that participants are 15 years old or will be by the time class ends.
- An existing Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is accepted but must be able to pass our assessment (Lifeguard skills and CPR)
- Classes are offered on site but attending and/or passing the class does not guarantee employment with the Tolomato CDD.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and under direct sunlight.
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Schedule: Varies to include weekends, nights, and holidays as required.
