Position Overview:
The Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring quality control activities across fabrication and manufacturing projects. The role ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and internal quality systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in fabrication, welding, inspection, and quality assurance, with 10 to 15 years of relevant industry experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of applicable international and domestic codes and standards (ASTM, EN, ISO, IS, etc.).
Conduct project Kick-off Meetings and Pre-Inspection Meetings with clients and suppliers.
Liaise with ASME Authorized Inspectors, Third-Party Inspection Agencies (TPIAs), and clients for inspection and certification activities.
Prepare, review, and obtain approval for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Weld Maps, and WPS/PQR documentation for pressure vessels, stacks, and structural items.
Review engineering drawings for material specifications, design data, heat treatment requirements, and ensure use of the latest revisions for BOM preparation and procurement.
Prepare Technical Delivery Conditions (TDCs) aligned with BOMs, applicable standards, and client specifications.
Review project specifications (EIL, IBR, ASME, TPIA, consultant, and client requirements) and ensure full compliance for materials, procedures, and documentation.
Prepare and approve QC procedures related to NDE, hydrotesting, PWHT, PMI, ferrite testing, painting inspections, and QMS activities.
Develop, review, and update SOPs and QMS procedures as required.
Coordinate raw material inspections at supplier locations; liaise with TPIAs, review inspection reports, verify MTCs, issue Inspection Release Notes (IRNs), and authorize material dispatch.
Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system, including issuance, evaluation, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and documentation of lessons learned.
Investigate customer complaints and feedback, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective measures.
Perform inspections at all project stages, including raw material, in-process, PWHT, hydrotesting, final visual and dimensional inspections, and painting, in accordance with approved ITPs.
Maintain comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports, test results, certifications, and photographic evidence.
Analyze quality issues, identify trends and root causes, and implement sustainable improvement actions.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project quality objectives.
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, clients, consultants, and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering.
Preferred Certifications (Added Advantage):
ASNT Level II certification in RT, UT, PT, and/or MPI.
Welding certifications such as CSWIP or AWS.
Painting and coating certifications such as SSPC, NACE, or BGAS.
Other Requirements:
Prior experience in Oil & Gas, Fired Equipment, Process Equipment, or Heavy Engineering industries.
Proven experience in quality control within fabrication or manufacturing environments.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
