Position Summary
The Housekeeping Manager leads the daily operations of The Stanford Inn’s housekeeping team. This role ensures that guest rooms, guest houses, and shared spaces are prepared with care, maintained to impeccable standards, and aligned with the restorative, thoughtful hospitality The Stanford is known for. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances team oversight, scheduling, inspections, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and coach the housekeeping team to uphold all cleaning standards, procedures, and service rhythms, modeling The Stanford’s hospitality values.
- Create and manage schedules and daily work assignments, ensuring fair rotation based on occupancy, events, and staffing needs.
- Coordinate closely with Guest Services and Groups & Events on arrivals, early check-ins, special requests, meetings, and operational changes.
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations, including rooms, homes, laundry, and transitions, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Conduct regular inn and cottage inspections using established checklists; support Housekeeping Leads with weekend or off-day inspections as needed.
- Oversee laundry operations for the Inn, guest houses, and spa.
- Manage inventory, par levels, supply ordering, and the stewardship of linens, amenities, and cleaning supplies.
- Support hands-on cleaning during peak occupancy or as needed to maintain service standards.
- Plan and oversee deep cleans, seasonal projects, and weekly, monthly, and annual upkeep.
- Maintain consistent daily communication with Guest Services leadership.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in housekeeping or hospitality operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a team while maintaining high service and cleanliness standards.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Experience conducting inspections and maintaining quality standards using checklists or similar tools.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to step into operational tasks as needed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Guest Services, Events, and other departments.
- Proven ability to maintain calm, professionalism, and attention to detail during high-occupancy or high-pressure periods.
