Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support a government contract delivering high-quality data solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, transforming raw data into actionable insights, and ensuring data quality and compliance with government standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and store structured and unstructured data.
Build and optimize data models, databases, and data warehouses for analytical and operational use.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to enable data-driven decision-making.
Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and monitoring for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy scalable and secure data solutions.
Ensure compliance with government security, privacy, and data governance standards (NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA if applicable).
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
Participate in Agile/Scrum processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
Assist in the evaluation and integration of new data technologies and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
3–5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database management.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica, dbt, or similar).
Experience programming in Python, Java, Scala, or other relevant languages.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services (S3, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Data Lake).
Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) is preferred.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Must reside in the Continental US.
Depending on the government agency, specific requirements may include a public trust background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting state federal government IT programs specifically within CMS or health industry.
Experience with data governance, metadata management, or data catalog tools.
Familiarity with DevOps practices for data engineering, CI/CD, and containerization.
Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to government data projects (NIST, FedRAMP, Section 508, HIPAA).
Exposure to business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is a plus.
Certification in cloud platforms or data engineering (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer).
