Software Engineer, Routing and Switching - Dataplane en Ciena

Ciena is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Routing and Switching team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and testing innovative software solutions for advanced networking products.

How will you contribute -

* Designing and implementing high-performance software for routing and switching platforms, incorporating Carrier Ethernet and IP Routing protocols.

* Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and ongoing support.
* Contributing to the architectural design of complex software systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.

* Developing and executing comprehensive testing plans to ensure product quality and system requirements are met.
* Effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality software.

Must Haves -

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Proven experience in Software Development, including coding, debugging, and testing in virtualized and containerized environments.

* Proficiency in software architectural design and software design principles.

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

* Good self-management skills and proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Assets -

* Solid grasp of TCP/IP Networking concepts.
* Familiarity with Layer 2/3 networking protocols, such as routing and switching, QoS, VPNs, and segment routing.
* Exposure to Broadcom Ethernet Switching chipsets.
* Knowledge of SDN concepts, Data Plane operations in VM / container environments, and advanced networking protocols.
