About the Role

This role is site based and responsible for leading Compliance, Risk, and Health & Safety strategy and standards management across Diageo’s European Logistics operations. It covers multiple geographies, including the St. James’s Gate, Baileys, and Little Connel sites in Dublin, Runcorn in the UK, Belfast in Northern Ireland, as well as various locations across Europe depending on business needs.

As a key member of the Primary Logistics Leadership Team, the Compliance & Health and Safety Manager will be based at our St. James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin and play an active role in Crisis Management teams where required. This position is pivotal in ensuring adherence to best practices within our onsite 3PL operations and across all logistics activities throughout the UK and Europe.

The role works in close partnership with Category Teams, Logistics Contract Managers, and other H&S Managers across Global Brand Supply to standardise processes, manage risks, drive compliance, and maintain a safe, high-performing working environment. This is a critical role in supporting Diageo’s ambition to be the most trusted consumer goods company in the world.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Compliance Strategy Execution: Develop and deliver a comprehensive Compliance Plan covering Health & Safety, Quality, Food Safety, Business Risk, and Environmental areas across European logistics operations.

  • Health & Safety Programme: Design and lead the onsite and 3PL Health & Safety Programme for Diageo’s primary logistics operations across multiple sites.

  • Risk Mitigation: Lead risk mitigation planning for Primary Logistics, including Business Continuity Planning for cyber threats, 3PL operations, and onsite logistics.

  • Audit & Assurance: Conduct risk control effectiveness audits to ensure robust risk management practices are in place.

  • Compliance and Quality Systems Audits: Lead the CARM, GAR, ISO, FSSC, and UK Duty agenda for the Beer Primary Logistics function.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by developing and embedding management systems that address priority areas identified within the function.

  • Performance Metrics: Define and measure key compliance, customer, and H&S performance indicators, tracking progress against agreed improvement targets.

  • Technology Integration: Shape the logistics technology roadmap to enhance safety and compliance through digital innovation.

  • Best Practice Sharing: Promote and facilitate best practice sharing across European sites and multiple 3PL/OSL operations.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, transparent updates on risk areas and improvement opportunities, working closely with governance teams to ensure alignment across H&S, Quality, Business Risk, and Environment.

About You

You’ll bring a passion for driving safety, compliance, and operational excellence across complex logistics networks. A natural influencer and strategic problem solver, you excel in dynamic environments where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are key.

We’re looking for someone who can inspire confidence, shape the future of how we operate, and embed a culture of safety and compliance at every level.

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • A degree in a relevant Technical or Science discipline, or in Supply Chain or Logistics Management.

  • A NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum; a NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH Diploma would be an advantage - or a willingness to undertake one once in role.

  • Experience within the drinks industry and manufacturing environments, ideally with exposure to spirits and beers and a strong Manufacturing Excellence mindset.

  • Strategic vision and thought leadership, with a future-focused and externally connected approach.

  • A strong background in delivering strategy and driving continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence, and present to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage large operational teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.

  • Solid understanding of Business Continuity Planning and risk management techniques, alongside a thorough awareness of Health & Safety standards.
