Technical Functions

  • Provide the central point of contact to coordinate aircraft maintenance for all locations
  • Provide the point of contact for Engineering Authorization requests by Production
  • Support the minute-to-minute operation of assigned fleet
  • Provide technical support for assigned fleets for Dispatchers, Pilots, Aviation Maintenance Technician, and other personnel
  • Coordinate parts and tooling movement with AOG and MLS
  • Coordinate manpower requirements for field trips to non-maintenance stations with MOD/MOC
  • Request and remotely direct the work of contract maintenance personnel in non-maintenance stations in accordance with Maintenance Operations Control Procedures Manual (MOCPM)
  • Survey and analyze mechanical and operational performance of assigned fleet(s) or system(s) utilizing vendor and American Airlines programs
  • Continuously monitor aircraft and engine performance systems
  • Provide technical evaluation and recommendations for resolution of maintenance problems
  • Utilize aircraft manufacture manuals and other technical manuals
  • Administer and authorize the use of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL)/Configuration Deviation List (CDL)/Nonessential Equipment Furnishings (NEF)/Tracking and Control (TAC) process in accordance with the Maintenance Operations Control Procedures Manual (MOCPM)
  • Update delay information and Date Modification Request (DMR) entries for non-maintenance stations
  • For aircraft at non-staffed maintenance stations, maintain a current list of aircraft status (Estimated Time Remaining or ETR) and communicate. Minimum Equipment List (MEL) information to the appropriate IOC personnel.
  • Review open non-routine maintenance items on assigned fleet(s) or system(s)
  • Assist in researching and developing a plan to resolve chronic aircraft faults
  • Monitor and write follow up items to ensure effectiveness of corrective action to chronic faults
  • Identify chronic components and pass this information to the Reliability Department
  • Alert the Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) Manager or MOC on Duty when mechanical problems arise that adversely affect systems operations
  • Review previous day’s mechanical interruptions and follow up to ensure a positive final corrective action
  • Maintain and control CAT II/III aircraft certification and ensure aircraft remain in compliance
  • Maintain the ETOPS Program and ensure aircraft remain in compliance
  • Maintain the compass card records

Maintenance Control Technician General Functions

  • Perform all functions in accordance with company procedures and policies
  • Coordinate and communicate with other employees and vendors in order to accomplish work tasks
  • Report to position on time, as scheduled, and at assigned station or location, including varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete job-relevant training
  • Adhere to government (e.g., DOT, FAA, TSA) policies and regulations
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards
  • Follow instructions from management
  • Use relevant electronic systems to complete work
  • Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment, involving tight time constraints and high-pressure situations
  • Maintain a high level of focus and performance functioning throughout the shift

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Applicable valid driver’s license as required by local authorities.
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language or language native to geographical location.
  • Minimum five (5) years of Aviation Maintenance Technician experience on commerical or military aircraft
  • Knowledge of Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Extended Twin Operations (ETOPS); General Procedures Manual (GPM)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days-off
  • Work overtime on short notice or when operationally necessary
  • Ability to travel on short notice for support of Out of Service aircraft
  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA)
  • Must pass initial and random Drug and Alcohol screening
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges
  • Must be able to act professionally under stressful situations when dealing with other departments and customers

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Extensive Avionics and/or Maintenance Control Technician experience preferred
  • Extensive Aircraft systems troubleshooting experience preferred

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • F.A.A. Airframe and Powerplant license
