Role Overview
Administer all safety and environmental programs for Mitsubishi Power Americas Plant Services organization under the direction of the EHS Manager or Sr. Manager. Assure a safe and healthful working environment is maintained for Mitsubishi Power team members and contractors. Ensure compliance to all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Enforce applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations;
• Provide programs to train supervisors, managers, team members and subcontractors on issues related to safety and environmental such as safety practices, fire prevention, and proper handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials; Lead a cross functional team to audit for specific safety and environmental compliance at the
workstation utilizing employee involvement, combined with a 6S program;
• Ensure all environmental programs and waste disposal actions are in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements;
• Provide leadership and guidance to a Safety/Environmental Team that is comprised of a cross section of the organization. Ensure all receive training in relevant areas of EH&S, meets monthly, and works towards organizational go als and safety auditing combining with a 6S program for proactive injury reduction.
• Motivate employees in safety & environmental areas such as personal protection equipment, fire prevention, emergency plans for response, evacuation, hazardous materials, machine guarding, hazardous materials(labeling and storage), electrical safety, material handling, laser safety, overhead cranes and suspended loads;governmental agencies and/or regulators;
• Maintain accreditations with required continuing education units;
• Manage and administer Worker’ Compensation as directed by the EHS Manager (or Sr. Manager);
• Represent the Mitsubishi location EHS office at meetings and conferences;
• Assume duties as outlined and agreed during absences of the EHS Manager/ Sr. Manager;
• Be a mentor EHS Coordinators and Specialists for training, projects and tasks.
• Overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air;
• Perform other such duties as may be required.
Requirements

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or at least six (6) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accreditations: Accreditations from recognized organizations such as OSHA, Safety Councils, BCEA, EPA or other agencies are preferred.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to
apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software; risk management software; project management software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
