Our Asset Management and Maintenance Delivery Office for the State of Good Repair is seeking a Project Coordinator to join the team. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the construction of State of Good Repair projects including the design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects, in a safe, timely, consistent, and cost-effective manner.
- Coordinates State of Good Repair projects, or specific components), through all phases of design, construction and acceptance and commissioning of completed projects for hand over to the user group, including; contributing to procurement requirements and documentation, producing project documentation and coordinating amendments and approvals of documents, contributing to issue and risk reporting and mitigation plans with the Customer Transit Operations Team, and collaborating with internal and external authorities and stakeholder on matters of Safety, consultant outputs, and Budget variances.
- Performs day-to-day project administration such as organizing electronic files, coordinating meetings (internal and external), attending meetings related to project or component and representing Metrolinx GO Transit at meetings with external agencies, organizing and reporting on tasks, minimizing customer impacts, ensuring all internal and external approvals are obtained, design and cost disputes are resolved in a timely way within established budget and adhering to schedule restrictions.
- Coordinates engineering projects with external agencies including the Railways for flagging operations to ensure compliance with legislation, codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities, including the incorporation of external agency work within Metrolinx Engineering Projects, Transit Oriented Communities and State of Good Repair projects.
- As assigned, collaborate with the Project Delivery Team and internal and external stakeholders to provide input into the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans.
- Coordinate and maintain commercial issues, variations, claims, and early warning logs for their project or the portion of the project to which they are assigned.
- Administers contractual paperwork and expedites in a timely fashion (contract changes, submittals, invoices, and financial documents are in order); coordinate Contract Amendments and emergent contracts, arranging site visits to confirm work as necessary.
- Design and manage in-house projects and emergent rehabilitation/repair work for user groups.
- Identify, develop, and recommend physical infrastructure programs with respect to rehabilitation and expansion of all Metrolinx Transit facilities and managing the implementation of approved projects.
- Maintains highest possible Customer Experience throughout construction and maintenance activities to ensure Customer to Construction interface risks are mitigated and Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) is not negatively impacted.
- Managing the implementation and monitoring of approved projects through all stages of design and construction.
- A degree in Architectural/Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering Technology, Building Science or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering / architecture engineering / architecture/ construction / maintenance within an operating environment.
- Demonstrated progressive years of experience related to the planning, design, and construction of transit facilities, interpreting, and applying contract plans and specifications and co-ordinating contracted engineering projects.
- Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of any of Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial engineering, building science and architecture.
- Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control, scheduling, codes, standards, specifications, corporate policies and procedures and applicable contract legislation.
- Thorough understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations and Safety & Operating procedures with the training that will be provided.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal skills and analytical ability are a must.
- Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications is essential.
- Must have a valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing to complete regular site visits.
- Reference and guidance are provided by various Acts and regulations, including the Environmental Assessment Act, Accessibility Acts, the Ontario Building Code, government policies, Corporate Administrative Policies and Procedures, the Engineering Standards and Procedures Manual, the Procurement and Contract Services Policies & Procedures Manual and the Station Operations Manual.
