The Healthcare Law Clerk (Legal Intern) will support the legal team in a dynamic healthcare environment. This position is ideal for a law student interested in healthcare law, regulatory compliance, and gaining hands-on experience in the legal functions of hospitals, clinics, or healthcare organizations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on healthcare statutes, regulations, and case law at federal and state levels.
- Draft, review, and edit legal memoranda, briefs, and correspondence relating to healthcare matters.
- Assist with preparing documents for regulatory filings, compliance audits, and policy reviews.
- Analyze contracts, business associate agreements, and vendor relationships for compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare laws.
- Monitor legislative developments and summarize their potential impact on the organization.
- Participate in meetings with legal counsel, compliance officers, and administrative staff.
- Support responses to subpoenas, discovery requests, or government investigations as needed.
- Help maintain and organize legal files, case management systems, and research databases.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an accredited law school (1L, 2L, or 3L status preferred).
- Strong interest in healthcare law, policy, and compliance.
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and strong organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information.
