GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Housing Assignment Coordinator oversees student housing assignments, cancellations, appeals, and retention initiatives while also serving as a frontline representative of Student Housing and Residence Life. This role manages housing applications and occupancy in StarRez, coordinates recruitment and retention initiatives, and provides direct support to students and families through both in-person and office interactions. The coordinator works closely with the Assistant Director for Housing Operations on StarRez processes while also handling daily front office duties such as answering phones, assisting walk-in students, and supporting ID services.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED is required as the minimum baseline for this position. An Associate’s degree (AA or AS) in a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in administrative, operational, or student services roles. Experience within housing operations or higher education is strongly desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.

Housing Assignments:

  • Manage housing assignments for all residential campuses.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of placement processes in StarRez.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assignment-related questions from students, families, and staff.

  Student Processes & Appeals:

  • Oversee the credit and GPA appeal process.
  • Manage housing cancellation requests and non-enrollment/below credit hour requirement cases.
  • Coordinate and process room changes within StarRez.

  StarRez System Support:

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Housing Operations, who oversees the main functions of the StarRez system.
  • Maintain student records and assist with student-related StarRez functions.

 Recruitment & Retention:

  • Assist with recruitment initiatives for prospective residents.
  • Support the retention of current residents through outreach, engagement, and personalized support.

 Front Office & Student Support:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Housing and Residence Life, providing high-quality customer service to students, parents, and visitors in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Assist with student ID card processing and related services.
  • Provide general office support to ensure effective day-to-day operations.

 Collaboration & Departmental Support:

  • Work with Housing staff to support departmental goals, student success, and the residential experience.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
