A Day in the Life...
• Plans and executes R&D package development activities for new and existing packages. Provides dynamic packaging support and leadership to packaging projects from inception through launch and supports other initiatives, operations and related activities.
• Works with functional business, supply chain and operations partners to develop and prove packaging systems beverage and food products.
• Responsible for identifying and implementing packaging improvements for existing products and processes.
• Design, develop and execute packaging solutions which meet consumer expectations, cost targets, quality and supply chain requirements with consideration to the impact on plant operations.
• Serve as R&D packaging technical lead on cross functional project teams.
• Organize, plan, develop, coordinate and direct R&D packaging development projects proactively from concept to successful commercialization. Effectively manage technical timelines and multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Conduct hands on bench and pilot scale tests.
• Conduct packaging commissioning and provide manufacturing support for new and existing packaging processes.
• Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems that arise from processing food and/or beverage products.
• Interact with other departments and communicate technical information to all levels, including presentations and technical reports.
• Create, design and develop as necessary, testing plans to accurately assess packaging performance parameters.
• Ensure opportunities for intellectual property (IP) protection are proactively identified and communicated to Legal and project teams.
• Develop, create and maintain packaging specifications, test methods and operating standards.
• Work closely with external vendors to develop prototypes and define packaging specifications.
• Maintain knowledge of new and emerging packaging technologies and identify opportunities for the company.
What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor's Degree in packaging science, engineering or related field required
• 2+ years of experience in the packaging related field
• Highly organized
• Self-starter and accountable
• Able to design, plan & manage multiple projects simultaneously to deliver value-added solutions within defined time & cost parameters
• Technical skills, analytics, data collection
• Able to develop feasible prototypes that meet consumer & operational objectives
• Collaborative and creative
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge in a variety of packaging materials such as corrugated, flexible plastics, glass, plastic bottles or paper
• MS Office, CAPE/TOPS, Adobe, Jump, Minitab or similar software

$79,400 - $109,230The base salary range information above serves as a guideline of the position’s typical hiring range.
