Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Lubrication Technician to join our growing team as the company transitions from mine construction to mine operations.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Centralized Planning and Reliability Supervisor, the Lube Technician is responsible for managing all lubrication activities, which includes maintaining the lubrication program, managing inventory, conducting oil changes and sampling, ensuring all equipment meets safety standards, and other conditional monitoring activities.
This position is located at the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous health, safety, and environment advocate, adhere to and promote health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures.
- Establish and promote a respectful and healthy work environment.
- Owning and managing lubrication routes for all mill and processing plant.
- Safely installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, overhauling, and repairing stationary industrial machinery, including gearboxes, hydraulic units, and auto-lubrication systems mining equipment.
- Adhering to cleanliness and all standards for all lubrication and hydraulic units, including managing filters, consumables, and the oil depot.
- Conducting oil and fuel sampling, documenting results, and checking for contaminants, moisture content, and metal fragments to predict maintenance needs.
- Preparing work orders, track material orders, and enter time spent on tasks.
- Managing inventory of necessary parts and consumables.
- Assisting the broader maintenance team with scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance (PMs), such as changing filters and general machinery cleaning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- Engineering Technician diploma, a Trades Certificate, or equivalent.
- Lubrication and vibration training would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience working in a remote industrial environment is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
- Experience with radio communication and protocols.
- Excellent communication (oral/written) skills required.
- Strong team building skills.
- Ability to do the following in accordance with the task for an extended period: climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, trunk bending, stooping, and reaching up and out for material.
- A valid driver’s license and drivers abstract is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (word, PowerPoint, excel) would be considered an asset.
