Job Description:About the role
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, this is a 14‑month fixed-term position in the Apply Experience team at the heart of SEEK’s marketplace helping millions of candidates to find jobs on our web and mobile apps platforms in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Our product ambition is to ensure there are no missed opportunities to connect talent to job opportunities, ensuring candidates prefer to use SEEK’s brands by offering ease and best in class ways to connect and standout with trust to employers while being empowered with information about their hiring outcomes and next best actions.
In this role, you will be responsible for solving real candidates’ problems, whilst balancing employers’ and business’ needs. As such, you should demonstrate the following key product competencies:
Responsibilities
Product Execution
- Partner closely with team members to manage and ship products into market, translating. ambiguous business goals into clear product specifications with the appropriate level of detail
- Leverage technical awareness to make reusable, scalable product decisions, and reduce uncertainty risks by surfacing and testing assumptions to confirm product viability, feasibility and desirability.
- Balance speed and quality trade-offs and engage stakeholders timely to deliver user value quickly.
Customer & Market Insight
- Deliver product initiatives candidates really want and that work for the business by interpreting customer behaviour and feedback and running statistically sound experiments.
- Ensure team is crafting intuitive and delightful user experiences by leveraging the appropriate combination of data analysis, experiments, competitive reviews and user research.
- Demonstrate strong analytical judgment by defining and monitoring product metrics, converting dashboards into clear, actionable data-informed business recommendations.
Product Strategy
- Articulate how current work connects to broader team and business goals, making proactive recommendations to achieve short and long-term strategic objectives.
- Show product ownership focusing on outcomes over outputs, delivering measurable and relevant results that contribute to achieving our core marketplace ambitions.
- Influence the team’s roadmap by defining and maintaining a clear, sized and prioritised list of problems, features and initiatives that deliver against the product vision.
Influence & Leadership
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration by fostering a culture of accountability over outcomes and shared success that builds towards an empowered team mindset.
- Map and align stakeholders, integrate early feedback into product decisions, and escalate thoughtfully to remove blockers and maintain momentum.
- Clearly communicate status, risks, and decisions, setting accurate expectations and enabling evidence-based trade‑offs decisions.
Skills and experience
- A strong learning orientation and growth mindset with previous experience in product management.
- Self‑motivated, curious and comfortable with ambiguity capable of adapting as context shifts and to prioritise amid competing demands.
- Effective communication skills and ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated empathy and ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships across disciplines and regions, balancing diverse perspectives to reach better outcomes.
- Ability to break constraints and get things done, including a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and ‘pitch in’ where required.
- Experience in or willingness to learn analytical tools and techniques; defines success metrics, interprets dashboards, and runs sound experiments (e.g., A/B tests) with basic statistical judgment.
- Willingness to learn and apply Agile delivery practices; facilitates squad rituals, manages backlogs/roadmaps and acceptance criteria, and uses Jira/Confluence for transparent workflows.
- Ability to translate ambiguous goals into clear product specifications and lightweight prototypes with the right level of detail to enable smooth delivery.
- Strong customer and market insight skills; selects the right mix of qualitative research, quantitative analysis and competitive review, and partners with design to craft intuitive, pattern‑consistent experiences.
- Strategy and risk orientation; connects work to business objectives, prioritises a focused roadmap, and de‑risks viability, feasibility and desirability through hypothesis‑led research, prototyping and experimentation.
