The role involves providing comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) support and guidance within the assigned project(s). Using Expert EHS knowledge to ensure compliance with legal, customer, and internal EHS requirements. Also, to ensure the highest EHS standards are met. It includes leading EHS initiatives, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, influencing EHS strategy, and driving continuous improvement in safety practices within the assigned project(s).
EHS professional to act as the primary spokesperson for EHS matters with MBNL UK (Managed Services) and drive all EHS programs across the CSS domain in Europe.  The Role holder will be required to make fact-based decisions and execute speedily to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels, establishing and maintaining credible working relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. 


Responsibility:


1.    EHS Manager for UK Managed Services (75% of the time)
-    Develop and implement comprehensive Project Safety Plans and risk register in alignment with Ericsson and customer requirements, execute project-specific EHS strategies to ensure proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
-    Address customer & local regulatory requirements and ensure compliance within Ericsson’s Environmental & OHS framework, maintain a positive, collaborative, and transparent relationship with the customer.
-    Relay customer feedback regarding EHS performance and expectations back into the company's EHS management system for continuous improvement.
-    Apply Contractor Management to assure compliance with Ericsson & customer (all through Selection & Evaluation, Onboarding, and Performance tracking & auditing processes).
-    Ensure proper EHS Injection and ownership for new field operation, including internal or external team members, as well as the company and individuals.
-    Monitor and identify any deviation from EHS adherence by external Approved Service Providers (ASPs), Internal Field operations delivery, and implement the EHS governance to ensure it is effective.
-    Supervise, control, and report EHS performance and inspection results. This may include internal project audits, suppliers, or any other areas of Ericsson operations. 
-    Act as the dedicated and primary point of contact for all CSS EHS-related inquiries, communications, and escalations from the customer.
-    Understand, interpret, and communicate the customer's specific EHS requirements, standards, and expectations to relevant internal teams in Ericsson, providing competent EHS knowledge to support.
-    Ensure and demonstrate to the customer that the company's operations and EHS practices meet their specific contractual and policy requirements.
-    Prepare and submit required EHS performance data, incident reports (as per agreement), audit results, identifying root causes and trends, and ensuring corrective and preventive actions and compliance documentation directly to stakeholders (internal and External) in their preferred format and frequency.
-    Address and manage the resolution of any EHS concerns, non-conformances, or corrective action requests raised by the customer in a timely and effective manner.
-    Promote and enhance the safety culture across the project team and ASPs through training, engagement, coaching, enabling, promoting Target Zero, and carrying out leadership initiatives.
-    Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures, Ericsson Ways of working, set implementation strategies, plan, and review Ericsson’s EHS standards to ensure robust, compliant, and industry-leading, supporting their implementation.

 

2.    EHS Program Leader for Managed Services in Europe (25% of the time)
-    Interface with the EHS SME team within the Market Area to agree and develop EHS policies and plans for the Managed Services unit.
-    Drive the achievement of EHS goals, KPIs, and strategic objectives within the Managed Services operations across Europe.
-    Cascade EHS objectives, strategies, and performance expectations to project-level EHS SMEs to ensure consistent implementation and accountability.
-    To be consulted and to give the EHS technical expertise on any incident investigation, including conducting effective and pertinent investigation analysis, reporting on the incident as per Ericsson standards, proposing and following up on determined corrective and preventive actions. Carrying out trend analysis to look for lessons learned and drive improvement.
-    To be consulted and to monitor the emergency preparedness and response management.
-    Ensure effective EHS governance across regional projects, aligning practices and compliance with Ericsson’s framework and Market Area requirements.
-    Follow up on Ericsson’s Global and Market Area KPIs and short and long-term EHS objectives implementation in the unit. 
-    Follow up on the actions related to the analysis and consolidation of critical incidents (fatalities, accidents, and HIPO) across the CSS unit to ensure that common causes have been identified, correctly addressed, and reported to management.
-    Track the on-time closure of all corrections and corrective actions from incidents.
-    Monitor regional progress toward EHS strategic targets, providing guidance, analysis, and support to project teams to maintain high standards of performance and compliance.
-    Proactively act to identify innovative solutions and improvements to mitigate risk or achieve Environmental sustainability ambitions and promote EHS improvements and initiatives.
-    collaboration and alignment promoting standardization between regional and project EHS teams to ensure uniform application of best practices and continuous improvement, facilitating all EHS awareness and communication efforts in the CSS unit.

 


Key Qualifications:
-    Education: a recognized formal OHS/Environment qualification, e.g., degree or diploma in OHS Health and Safety Management, or NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or other equivalent recognized and relevant certification. 
-    Chartered member of IOSH or a Graduate working towards.
-    Knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM 2015) Regulations.
-    Additional qualifications/certifications in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., First Aid, Fire Fighting, Working at Heights, etc.) would be a plus. 
-    Minimum 10 years of demonstrated work experience in implementing EHS management systems in matrixed, multicultural, and multi-geographical environments, including a robust understanding of compliance requirements, monitoring guidelines, and standards.
-    In-depth understanding of European regulations, health and safety laws, and standards.
-    ISO 45001 lead auditor and ISO 14001 lead auditor are recommended.
-    Proven record of leading a group.
-    Telecom field understanding – including customer and market insight, field maintenance services delivery process, models, and strategy.
-    Proven experience in conducting formal incident investigations. 
-    Experience in Emergency Preparedness, Crisis Management, and Business Continuity. 
-    Knowledge and experience in developing and deploying behavioral safety programs to address health and psychosocial risks would be preferred. 
-    Experience in organizing & delivering EHS training internally. 
-    Proven experience in evaluating, monitoring, and EHS performance tracking of contractors.
-    Experience in developing Health & Safety strategies and procedures. 
-    Experience in dealing with internal/ external customers.
