Scope of the role:
An Optical Technician must have an aptitude for mechanics and an eye for detail. Their function is to ensure that all parts and products under their care are in proper working order and meet the quality standards of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting up and operating manufacturing equipment.
- Responsibilities may include blocking, degreasing, grinding, polishing.
- Knowledge and understanding of process steps.
- Measure optical parts using optical metrology equipment, including hands tools.
- Understand quality specifications and perform quality checks on own work.
- Able to perform cleaning methods on small optics using both hands and a variety of tools such as tweezers, suction cups, clamps, Q-Tips, etc.
- Able to interpret blueprints, work orders, travelers
- Participate in Kaizen events and other improvement activities.
- Help develop and maintain process documentation.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Help develop with team members the creation of WI and other matrix needed
- Help support improvements on the production floor for sustainment
- Work with manufacturing team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality in the optical manufacturing process.
- Help support any safety related initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to use precision tools to take accurate measurements
- Ability to maintain close tolerances
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Knowledge of glass
- Good mathematical and computer skills
- Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required
- Excellent communication
- Strong ability to motive
- Team player and willingness to share job knowledge
- Positive attitude is essential
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
· High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience Required:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field
