An experienced IT Technical Product Owner to drive the strategy, development, and optimization of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service application. This role is crucial for maximizing the value delivered by our technical teams, ensuring the platform enhances our field technician productivity, optimizes service scheduling, and improves overall customer satisfaction and asset management. The ideal candidate will blend deep functional knowledge of the D365 Field Service module with agile leadership skills to translate business needs into effective technical solutions. This role also requires a good functional understanding of software architecture and the ability to work with ITBA/PM (Business Analysts/Project Managers), developers, architects, and infrastructure service groups to support the overall assigned application portfolio.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

This role will lead/manage a technical third-party team or a team of developers. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for the D365 Field Service application, ensuring alignment with service delivery, asset maintenance, and organizational strategic goals.
  • Backlog Management: Own and manage the product backlog (epics, features, user stories, tasks), prioritizing items based on business value, technical feasibility, and stakeholder needs to ensure the team focuses on the most impactful work.
  • Requirements Definition: Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements from field service managers, dispatchers, and technicians. Translate these requirements into clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Technical & Functional Expertise: Function as the subject matter expert for the D365 Field Service solution, guiding the development team on configuration, customization, environment refresh/backup, and integration decisions, especially regarding work order management, scheduling, resource optimization, and the mobile app.
  • Agile Team Collaboration: Actively participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) to provide clarity on user stories, remove impediments, and ensure a shared understanding of project goals.
  • Quality Assurance & UAT: Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system demos to ensure the delivered solution meets quality standards and stakeholder expectations before deployment.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the technical teams and business stakeholders, communicating project status, technical challenges, and solutions effectively to ensure buy-in and alignment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency, technician effectiveness, and report accuracy within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) platform.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:  

  • Technical Acumen: In-depth understanding of the D365 Field Service module (scheduling board, agreements, customer assets, inventory, mobile app) and the broader Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
  • Agile Expertise: Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex data and user feedback for data-driven decision-making.
  • Documentations: Develop, maintain, and understand documentation related to application management, including, but not limited to, installation, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and support. Ensure systems documentation follows best practices and is up-to-date, accurate, and tested.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.

Knowledge of:

  • Good knowledge of application troubleshooting and providing end-user support.
  • Good knowledge of planning, testing, and deploying enterprise-level applications and upgrades.
  • Experience with multiple relational database management systems, understanding how applications use them, along with their security and integrity.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
  • Current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of the following is a plus:
    (Cloud-based application technologies, security principles, MS Server Administration tools, IIS, Exchange, SQL, SRS, MS Power Page, Power BI Dashboards and Reports, Oracle Fusion Cloud application and its database, and other related technologies.)

Minimum Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, IT, or other related disciplines.
  • Beneficial: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service Functional Certified

Minimum Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Functional Consultant with firsthand experience implementing or managing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service.
  • Familiarity with CE Field Service components such as Work Orders, Scheduling, Assess Management, and Mobile applications.
  • Tier II - III firsthand technical support of MS Dynamic Custom App changes and implementation, MS SharePoint Online, and other related MS tools.
    Physical Demands:  
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feet; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Problem Solving and Innovation:

  • Work closely with ITBA/PM and developers to ensure that solution sets are successfully transitioned into the IT support model.
  • Assimilate and evaluate data from multiple sources to determine the optimum solution based on requirements.
  • Deals with complex technical issues through own experience or research.
  • Works with little or no supervision.
