Job Description
The Director, Boy’s Development, is a regular full-time position. This position will oversee the development, administration, and growth of the boys’ junior volleyball programs within the Southern California Southern Nevada (SCSN) Region. The role will guide clubs and teams through registration, membership, tournaments, and coach development in alignment with USA Volleyball and SCSN policies. The incumbent will foster a high-quality, inclusive volleyball environment that adheres to SafeSport and other regulatory standards.
Cross departmental support is expected of all positions. Moderate domestic travel is expected. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is located in Irvine, California.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Design and implement the strategy for boys’ junior indoor volleyball programs in the region, including age-group programs, clinics, tryouts, and team placements.
- Collaborate with club directors, coaches, officials, and the SCSN office to align program goals with regional and national standards.
- Oversee program operations for boys’ regional tournaments and events.
- Provide resources and support for clubs to achieve SCSN sanctioning, registration, and membership compliance.
- Serve as a point of contact for clubs and players for boys’ programming – provide guidance, solve issues, and communicate region policies.
- Plan and manage program budgets, equipment inventory, and facility usage.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, athlete-centered culture aligned with USA Volleyball’s mission and SCSN’s “One Volleyball. One Community.” motto.
- Ensure all program elements adhere to SafeSport, MAAPP (Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy), USAV member protections, and regional bylaws.
- Monitor program growth, athlete retention, and competitive success (e.g., performance at regional qualifiers) and recommend strategic enhancements.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Must have proven experience coaching or directing youth volleyball programs, with a focus on girls’ athletics.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, coaching techniques, and athlete development principles.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience managing staff and/or coaches.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for practices, games, and events.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all athletes.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively within the region as needed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
- Must successfully complete Safe Sport training within two weeks of hire date. Training must be maintained throughout employment.
Salary: $115,000-$125,000
