Ascentec Engineering is hiring a People Business Partner who will play a key role in bringing Ascentec Engineering’s people strategies to life. Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, this position supports employees and leaders across assigned departments to drive engagement, performance, and development. The People Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor and connector, ensuring consistent application of people programs, gathering feedback from the organization, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture aligned with Ascentec’s core values.
This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) at our Tualatin headquarters and one-day per week at Ascentec’s Dallas, Oregon facility. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities:
Partner with employees and leaders to support engagement, performance, and alignment with Ascentec’s mission, values, and business goals.
Employee Support and Relations:
- Serve as the day-to-day People and Culture contact for assigned departments, providing coaching and guidance to employees and leaders.
- Interpret company practices and policies for both people leaders and employees, facilitating understanding and mutual agreement on appropriate actions and next steps.
- Support leaders in handling employee concerns, conflict resolution, and performance improvement conversations with fairness and consistency.
- Escalate complex or sensitive employee relations matters to the Director of People and Culture as appropriate.
- Promote a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Performance and Development:
- Partner with leaders to identify development needs, training priorities, and team capabilities.
- Collaborate with the Learning and Development Manager to ensure training programs align with identified employee development needs and departmental goals.
- Support implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and review cycles.
- Provide input on career development and growth opportunities within assigned departments.
Culture, Engagement, and Communication:
- Champion company values through engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and communication activities.
- Coordinate with teams on local events and employee experience efforts that reinforce connection and belonging.
- Collect feedback through conversations, surveys, and observation, and share insights with the Director of People and Culture to guide future initiatives.
- Act as a culture ambassador, helping employees understand and connect with Ascentec’s mission and strategic direction.
Operational and Compliance Support:
- Ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently and in compliance with federal and Oregon employment laws.
- Possess strong knowledge of employment law and has a strong understanding of HR risk mitigation and best practices in various HR generalist areas.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with HR reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
- Partner with EHS and Quality teams to align people-related practices with safety and regulatory expectations.
- Support updates and rollouts of new policies and processes developed by the People and Culture team.
Partnership and Collaboration:
- Build strong relationships with leaders, employees, and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with the Director of People and Culture to ensure department priorities are successfully implemented at the local level.
- Analyze workforce trends, attendance, and engagement feedback to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Contribute to projects that enhance HR systems, processes, and the overall employee experience.

- Serves as a hands-on, trusted resource for employees and leaders, translating People and Culture initiatives into daily practice.
- Collaborates closely with the Director of People and Culture and the broader People and Culture Department team to ensure company-wide programs are implemented effectively and consistently.
- Partners with the Learning and Development Manager to reinforce learning and development initiatives across departments.
- Supports the collection, tracking, and reporting of People metrics to help identify trends, measure engagement, and inform workforce planning.
- Maintains confidentiality and sound judgment in all employee interactions.
- Builds trust across teams and fosters an environment of respect, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Maintains regular, predictable attendance and reliable follow-through on commitments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Experience:
- 4+ years of progressive HR or people operations experience, preferably in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- Must have experience with corrective/disciplinary action philosophy and practice.
- Experience supporting HR programs like career path, leveling, learning programs, calibrations; experience enabling managers to leverage these and other tools effectively.
- Working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and employee relations best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to build trust and influence across multiple levels of an organization.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:
Working Environment & Physical/Mental Demands:
- Office environment with regular interaction across departments.
- This role is primarily office-based working on a computer and interacting with employees, with occasional responsibilities that include running errands externally and supporting company events.
- May occasionally walk through production areas.
- Prolonged sitting and computer use.
- Ability to navigate stairs and move through office and production areas.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Compensation/Benefits:
- $75,000 to $95,000 per year DOE
