Teacher Assistant en Oak Ridge School District

JOB GOAL:  To prtvide educational support to students in a variety of settings and promote academic success; to provide administrative and cleerical support to teachers as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises students outside of the classroom:
• Car Duty
• Hall Duty
• Lunch Duty
• Field Trips
• Nap times
• Prepares for instruction with minimal instruction from lead teachers
• Administers tests and assessments
• Assists with cleaning and maintaining the classroom as needed
• Substitutes in the classroom as needed 
• Grades student work as required
• Collaborates with colleagues
• Monitors student progress
• Works under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher unless otherwise assigned by the appropriate supervisor
• Prepares the classroom and organizes instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacher
• Attend in-service and faculty meetings when directed to do so by the principal or supervisor
• Performs office duties such: making copies, laminating, assisting with teacher prep, preparing for lessons, bulletin boards, prep for crafts projects
• Keeps school business, or student records confidential in or out of school or with peers in accordance with FERPA
• Performs other routine duties as assigned by the building-level administrator subject to the approval of the supervisor
• Establishes and maintains satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma, preferred 2-year degree
• Ability to communicate effectively 
• Physically must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be mentally able to withstand the rigors of the position
• Must enjoy working with children
