Job Title:         Quality Assurance Program Specialist  

Department:    Quality Control 

Reports To:      Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager 

FLSA Status:    Non-Exempt 

 

Summary: 

Ensure all production runs adhere to the company’s food safety and quality standards. Maintain all aspects and systems of production that relate to Quality Assurance and Control. Stay focused on identified goals and expectations of your team and production. Clear and accurate documentation of all quality checks. Motivate and assist with the implementation of new or updated SOPs to assure Production, Quality, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse Department employees are aware and following OIC food safety and quality expectations. 

 Essential Functions: 

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. 

 Directly working with the FSQA Manager on all Food Safety and Quality Programs as required by the Food Safety and Modernization Act.

  • Verify and update SOPs as needed annually.
  • Research and verify all programs are up to date and align with federal regulations. 
  • Assist with training and any updates on QA documentation training as needed.
  • Upkeep of paperwork related to all Food Safety & Quality Programs.
  • Assist FSQA Manager with any audit prep as needed.
  • Adhere to, and communicate, quality, safety, and security regulations.
  • Assist FSQA Manager with any extra tasks such as writing SOPs, documentation, and filing papers as needed.
  • Work in tandem with the Quality Assurance Specialist to verify programs coincide with all Supplier and Certification needs.
  • Provide day to day support for all food safety and quality needs of the Production Facility.
  • Support of Food Safety and Quality Programs such as pest management, calibration, the calibration register, master sanitation verification, supplier approval, and Preventive Control Plans.
  • Assist in the management of the Document Control Program.

 

Food Safety Requirements: 

  • Maintaining food safety and food quality through ensuring GFSI compliance.
  • Report food safety problems or concerns to FSQA Manager to help assist.
  • Assuring personnel hygiene and welfare practices within the facility.

 

Coverage: 

  • Food Safety& Quality Assurance Manager is trained in all aspects of the QA Program Specialist and able to perform coverage in this position as needed.

 

 

 

Education + Experience: 

  • Thorough knowledge in the requirements of the Food Safety & Modernization Act(FSMA)
  • All Food Safety Programs required by FSMA
  • PCQI Certified preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience in a food production facility is preferred
  • At least2yearsexperienceina lab environment is preferred
  • Computer skills/typing skills are essential
  • Organizational and Administrative knowledge
  • Ability to work well with people
  • Communication skills

  • Lifting: Light (less than 30lbs.)frequently

  • Able to tolerate cold environments (Cooler and Freezer warehouses)
