PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.

Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.

Dates: All Staff training begins mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.

Sessions: Camp K offers 5 day sessions throughout the summer.

Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions. There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer.

Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building. 


Position Description: 

The Assistant Director of Partnerships and Rentals plays a vital leadership role in the success of Camp K’s Sleepaway Summer Program and the coordination of all Partner and Rental Group Programs. This position ensures that every guest experience, from youth campers to partner organizations, reflects the mission, values, and high standards of Camp Fire Alaska.

In this dynamic, on-site leadership role, you’ll oversee program planning and delivery, manage communications and logistics for partner and rental groups, and coordinate the use of camp facilities to ensure seamless operations. You’ll also take a hands-on approach in staff development through training, scheduling, and supervising seasonal team members to create a supportive, high-performing work environment.

Key responsibilities include organizing participant schedules, maintaining excellent relationships with external partners, and ensuring all programs are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Camp Fire Alaska’s policies and American Camp Association standards.

As a live-in position during the summer season, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant camp community, supporting youth and guests, while surrounded by the incredible natural beauty of Chugach National Forest.

Through this role, you’ll bring Camp Fire’s Promise to life: providing every youth the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are.


Qualifications: 

required

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in program administration. 
  • Prior experience in staff supervision and management.. 
  • Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider.
  • Twenty-five (25) years of age required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting entities. 
  • Valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles is required.

  • Prior camp experience, sleep away camp preferred. 
  • Wilderness First Aid (required) certification or ability to attend a certification course once hired (will be offered during camp start up training).
