Description

The Academic Pathways Specialist supports the Director of Academic Pathways, Equity, and Access by maintaining transfer portals, articulation agreements, accurate student and program records, managing data related to transfer credit evaluations, reviewing and updating the documentation of policies and processes (including the Academic Catalog, website, and communications), and contributing to systems that enhance student onboarding and progression. 

This position also coordinates application processes, and serves as a resource for students, families, and faculty to ensure program eligibility and academic success in pre-professional pathways, such as nursing, health sciences, and pre-med, transfer students, and post-baccalaureate and professional program students. This work may include advising and onboarding transfer students entering by guiding them through the onboarding process, course evaluations, and first-semester scheduling; supporting students seeking post-baccalaureate graduate and professional programs; and outreach, event coordination, cross-departmental collaboration, and staying current on trends and best practices in health sciences education.

Requirements

Education: REQUIRED:  BA/BA                                 

PREFERRED: MA/MS in an academic or student service field highly preferred

Experience:  (years required and applicable field of experience): 4

Skills/Abilities:  (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) 

- Strong critical thinking skills, detail-oriented, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, understanding of advising and/or counseling approaches in higher education--either by education or experience.

- Ability to navigate and learn complex systems independently, interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Understanding of underrepresented student experiences in higher education, and strategies to support college access and academic success.

- Ability to work within a diverse community, and to practice shared values of equity and Lasallian social justice.
