JOB TITLE:                 Sanitation Semi-Driver

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT:        Public Works/Transfer Station

SUPERVISOR:          Sanitation Foreman and/or Transfer station Manager

SALARY:                    $48,096 to $57,715 Annually

To drive a semi-truck and trailer with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) on city, state, and federal roads. Deliver MSW to assigned destination and empty trailer at designated facility. Ensures all loads are secure and weight does not exceed DOT standards.

• Perform and document pre-trip inspections.
• Transporting MSW or Recycling to designated facility.
• Ensure all loads are secure, correct weight and following all DOT regulations before leaving Station.
•  Clean, sweep, wash, and pick up trash in basement area of transfer station or other assigned areas.
• Perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation heavy equipment, clean sanitation equipment.
• Maintain appropriate logs and records on collection and delivery activities.
• Perform work activities according to safe work practices and procedures.

• Wear designated PPE when required - Hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Reports safety concerns to supervisor and/or the Safety Coordinator.
• Operating sanitation collection equipment.
• Proficient in Clam Shell operations.
• Availability to help cover fire watch duties.
• Help sanitation supervisors closing the Transfer Station. 
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.         
• Ability to perform minor maintenance activities on sanitation collection heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, or local Laws, regulations, or ordinances.
• Deliver solid waste to the designated facility.
• Ability to learn clam shell, frontend loader, or any other sanitation equipment.
• Ability to maintain or acquire Class A CDL and Medical certificate.

Required:

Two (2) years of Tractor Truck with trailer experience.

 Class A Wyoming Commercial Driver's License and Medical Card.

Preferred:

Three (3) years of Tractor truck with trailer experience.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

Working Environment:  

Travel from site to site: field environment exposure to noise, dust, smoke, fumes, gases, and infectious materials, and   inclement weather condition; work around heavy sanitation equipment.
