Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.
Background on the Team
The FXEM Business Analytics team partners with trading, strats, technology, and business management to deliver high-quality, scalable, and innovative data solutions. The team is at the forefront of applying advanced analytics to transform data into actionable insights and business metrics that support strategic decision-making.
Primary Responsibilities
Morgan Stanley is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled individual to join the FXEM Business Analytics team as an Associate/Senior Associate Data Strategist (2–4 years of experience). This role is ideal for candidates with a strong quantitative foundation and a passion for data analytics in a front-office environment.
Responsibilities include:
Work closely with the Global FXEM Chief Operating Officer team to diagnose bottlenecks across the product lifecycle and identify opportunities for scaling and optimization.
Apply data analytics techniques to automate workflows and streamline how users interact with data and metrics.
Build tools to capture, analyze, and distribute business metrics across the organization.
Work with large and complex datasets in KDB and Python to derive impactful insights for business decision-making.
Partner with technology teams to build integrated data platforms supporting data pipelines, catalogues, and analytics.
Contribute to the creation and documentation of high-quality datasets for internal analysis and strategic planning.
Collaborate with Sales, Traders, Technologists, Strategists, and Risk Managers to find holistic solutions that to deliver the best of Morgan Stanley to our clients.
Skills Desired
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Computational Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
Solid understanding of data analytics and practical experience applying them to real-world problems.
Strong programming skills in Python. Knowledge of KDB is highly desirable.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
High resilience and ability to work at the forefront of business decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a front-office quant, strat, or business analytics role within an investment bank or asset manager.
Familiarity with Fixed Income products, markets, and trading dynamics.
Interest in data science and business intelligence tools.
Demonstrable experience writing testable code in a financial setting.
