Responsibilities:

Interpreters provide medical and general interpreting between patient and family members and, providers, employees, and other internal and external constituents as needed. Assist patients and family members with paperwork, documentation, communication and other aspects of interacting with others that must be completed or helps to make their Hospital experience successful. Is a proactive resource to all patients and family members as needed.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification Requirements

  • High School Diploma - OR - GED
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Bridging the Gap ToT is accredited by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI)
  • CMI through NBCMI or ATA Certified or CTP

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in medical interpretation, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English, with strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
