Description
As an Assistant Controller you will manage the accounting operations and financial reporting of Paulo’s domestic and foreign locations. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining Paulo's consolidated financial records ensuring that financial transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and/or IFRS, as applicable, and supporting general ledger accounts are accurate and reconcile to subsidiary ledgers. The position will direct and supervise the work of the Accounting Department staff members.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end and year-end financial close and reporting processes; issue monthly financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and/or IFRS, as applicable, and according to Company reporting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with month-end reporting requirements of parent company.
- Coordinate and lead monthly financial review meetings.
- Coordinate and manage preparation of Paulo’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Coordinate and manage audits, tax compliance and other governmental or internal compliance audits.
- Manage Paulo’s day-to-day accounting operations.
- Administer monthly balance sheet account reconciliation process to ensure all accounts are reconciled, accurate and adjusted as necessary.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, financial controls and processes that align with best practices and growth.
- Lead process improvement projects to automate and streamline current accounting and reporting procedures to maximize the contribution to strategic business goals.
- Manage and maintain JD Edwards Accounting Software.
- Lead and direct the work of the FP&A Analyst, Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant.
- Other duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller and Management.

Qualifications
Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or a related financial business discipline.
- CPA/MBA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing Company.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- High level of proficiency with ERP systems and queries; knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills.
- Proactive with excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, this includes THC.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with Paulo's Vehicle Use Policy
