Position Summary 

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer, The Building Engineer supports the designated leadership with the daily operations of all building systems. This includes hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry and metal work, operating, maintaining and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems. The Building Engineer will also respond to customer requests and submit and close work orders as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all heaters, pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines used in the distribution of steam and heated or processed water. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, float valves, together with all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperature, and air conditioning systems in their entirety. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of pumps handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids together with all valves, appurtenances, and lines used in the system. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of air compressors, together with distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including all valves and control devices. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of water filters, softeners, piping and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution, including all sinks and toilet bowls, including all supply lines, drains, water lines, control devices, and fire suppression sprinkler systems. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans. 

  • Maintenance of elevators, man lifts, escalators, and hoist ways except where this type of equipment is serviced and maintained by specialized contractors, and only where the employee is properly licensed to do so 

  • All electrical work and repair. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all fuel oil systems including pumps, valves, lines, and controls. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors, and indicating devices. 

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps including basins, water closets, urinals, and piping. Excluding routine plunging of water closets, sinks and urinals as needed. 

  • Maintenance and repair of trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems. 

  • Maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment excluding third party vendor owned equipment. 

  • Operation, repair, and maintenance of all types of locks, keys, and locksmith related duties. Excluding installation and removal of hasps, padlocks and bathroom stall locking mechanisms. 

  • Maintenance, repair, and installation of carpentry work and those duties related to carpentry. Excluding non-load bearing platforms and minor sheetrock repairs on existing walls. 

  • General maintenance and check-ups of all components involved in the operation of the consoles, lamp banks, and motors. 

  • General maintenance and repairs of all cleaning and moving machines. General knowledge of warranty procedures and limits must be adhered to in maintaining much of this equipment. This shall exclude routine maintenance on landscaping equipment. 

  • Any and all welding provided the weld is not within the scope of any certification needed. 

  • Set up of telescopic and mechanical seating. General maintenance and repairs of risers, telescopic and mechanical seating, excluding minor seat repairs. 

  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all H.V.A.C. equipment and associated components. 

  • General maintenance and repair of water heater, laundry washing, and drying machines. 

  • Forklift, scissor lift, grove lift, Zamboni repair and general maintenance. 

  • Any and all work not specifically enumerated above, but which is customarily performed by maintenance engineers. 

  • Any and all work associated with supervisory control and data acquisition or cabling throughout the arena, for telephony and networking. 

 

 

Qualifications


Qualifications 

  • 5 years of facility engineering experience including operation of RTU’s, Chillers, BAS, Heating hot water systems, pneumatic/electrical controls, electrical/emergency systems, plumbing and mechanical general maintenance. 

  • Certified HVAC-Universal License  

  • Skilled in electrical systems UPS and Generator systems 

  • Skilled with Arena/Stadium Electrical Power infrastructure 

  • Skilled with Arena/Stadium lighting control equipment and lighting systems 

  • Skilled with N-Light controls and lighting systems 

  • Skilled with Mitsubishi electronic controllers and LED systems 

  • Demonstrated superior customer service and communication skills. 

  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule in support of events. 

  • Must be available to contact 24 x 7 for facility emergencies. 

  • Must be able to operate a PC utilizing MS Office and CMMS software.
