Special Education Teacher at Terrace Elementary School en Des Plaines School District 62

Community Consolidated School District 62 in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking a Special Education Teacher in the Structured Teaching Education Program (STEP) at Terrace Elementary School for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.   

The Structured Teaching Education Program (STEP) provides educational and related services to students in kindergarten through eighth grade identified with autism spectrum disorders who need social, communication, and behavioral skill development.

Qualifications:

1. Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. 2.Current valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBS1 endorsement.  3.  Experience as a middle school teacher is preferred. 4. EL/ML endorsement preferred.

District Information:

District 62 has approximately 4,900 students in grades preK-8 in 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 1 early learning center, and 1 year-round, K-8 school. 

Compensation Information:

• This position is part of the Des Plaines Education Association and salaries are part of the collective bargaining agreement. This position includes paid sick and personal time.
