Assistant Graphic Designer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Graphic Designer plays a key role in supporting the creative needs of the organization across all departments. Reporting to the Graphic Design Manager, this role contributes to the design and execution of engaging visual content, supporting initiatives such as ticket sales, marketing campaigns, brand identity, and organizational events. The ideal candidate will be versatile in digital, print, and social media design with strong attention to detail and project management skills.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Graphic Design Manager to establish and execute creative direction for the organization’s visual campaigns.
- Produce a wide variety of marketing materials with a focus on ticket sales, including print and digital ads, website graphics, stadium signage, billboards, banners, logos, promotional layouts, and end card graphics for television.
- Develop and implement visual content tailored to each department’s unique needs, including Promotions, Merchandising, Corporate Partnerships, Community Relations, Ballpark Operations, and Public Relations.
- Design original and ongoing content for all social media platforms, ensuring brand consistency and engagement.
- Support event-based design needs throughout the year for initiatives such as Rockies Fest, holiday events, community outreach, and VIP functions.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring completion within deadlines and budget.
- Maintain consistent communication with internal stakeholders to align on goals and expectations.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of design principles including layout, typography, hierarchy, and color theory.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a collaborative, team-oriented mindset and be willing to contribute to departmental and organizational priorities, including marketing, creative campaigns, events, and administrative support.
- Stay informed of design trends and organizational goals to proactively bring fresh ideas to the creative process.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Portfolio or examples of prior, relevant work required at the time of application.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience creating various types of graphic content for various Digital, Social and Production projects (including internships, student media, or collegiate level experience)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent design skills, particularly in layout, typography, and visual storytelling.
- Experience in both digital and print design production processes.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to receive and incorporate constructive feedback in a professional manner.
- Professional demeanor and punctual, reliable attendance required.
- Experience with motion graphics and video editing is a plus.
- Familiarity with the sport of baseball or similar sports media markets a plus
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds (e.g., signage, printed materials, or equipment).
- Must be able to navigate office and ballpark environments, including walking, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods during events.
- Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment and perform design-related tasks.
- Visual acuity required for reviewing detailed graphics, layouts, and color accuracy.
- Occasional extended hours including evenings and weekends may be required to support events and deadlines.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Hours generally 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, with some longer hours on occasion. This is an onsite in-office position.
SALARY RANGE:
- Annual salary range of $55,000-$60,000. This is a regular-status, full-time, Non-Exempt position.
- As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
