Finance Officer (Financial Accounting), Ongoing opportunity based in Sydney CBD + hybrid working options available

Clerk Grade: 5/6
Location: Sydney CBD
Salary: $99,938 - $110,271 plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
Employment: Full-time, 35 hours

About this role

Take on a key role within our Department of Customer Service (DCS) financial control function, where you will contribute to high-quality financial reporting, monthly results, and statutory disclosures for interim and annual financial statements. This role provides a great opportunity to collaborate across multiple finance teams within DCS and work closely with our shared services provider to drive accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in financial processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide financial accounting and reporting support, ensuring data accuracy, integrity and prompt resolution of system issues.
  • Partner with shared services providers to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial services.
  •  Assist with preparation of quarterly statutory financial reports in line with reporting requirements and deadlines.
  •  Review and validate monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  •  Monitor, analyse, and maintain financial systems and databases to generate accurate, insightful reports for stakeholders, including internal management and external agencies.
  •  Strengthen internal controls and financial governance by identifying risks, recommending process enhancements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies, and audit requirements.
  •  Maintain and manage the chart of accounts to ensure accurate account structure, correct mapping, and alignment with financial reporting, compliance, and operational requirements.

 About you

 We’re looking for someone who:

  •  Communicates effectively and takes initiative to drive results.
  •  Thrives in a deadline-driven environment and works well both independently and collaboratively.
  •  Holds a degree in accounting, finance, or business and is CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification.
  •  Has prior experience in financial accounting (highly regarded).
