Universal Workers are the heart and hands of Pleasantview's Assisted Living team. We're looking for a compassionate individual who wants to build authentic relationships with, and provide high-quality healthcare to, some of the wisest people on the planet. Universal Workers are responsible for delivering high-quality care to our residents by meeting their physical and emotional needs with dignity and respect. Being a Universal Worker at Pleasantview requires a mix of technical abilities and interpersonal sensitivity, making it a great fit for those who want to make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
AVAILABILITY: We currently have two full-time shifts available: Monday - Thursday 2 PM to 10 PM, and Sunday - Thursday 10 PM to 6 AM
COMPENSATION: $14.50 to $20 per hour, depending on experience. $1 per hour increase after completion of a med-aide course.

WORK EXPERIENCE: |
It is necessary to have a basic grasp and a sincere interest in the treatment of elderly people. Although not necessary, prior health-related experience is beneficial. There is extensive on-the-job training. |

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: |
Universal Workers are enrolled in online continuing education courses. They are paid for the time they spend completing these courses. |

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Our tenant's personal care and support are the responsibility of Universal Workers. They aid with personal hygiene, such as clothing, grooming, bathing, and feeding. Under the supervision of the nursing staff, Universal Workers may be asked to take vital signs or carry out other health-related duties. They are also in charge of monitoring and informing the nursing staff of any changes in the physical and mental well-being of tenants. During the first six weeks of work, Universal Workers are required to finish a medication management course. Strong teamwork and communication abilities are essential.
ABOUT PLEASANTVIEW
We are a faith-based, not-for-profit, small-town, caring community. Our recently remodeled facility has 50 skilled nursing beds, 16 dementia care rooms, and 28 assisted living rooms. The community also includes 57 independent living units.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT
Lifting Requirements: Universal Workers will frequently be called upon to lift various items between 10 and 50 lbs. Universal Workers will occasionally be required to lift over 50 lbs. while assisting with transfers. Push/pull requirements of 40 lbs. are common.
Carrying Requirements: Universal Workers will frequently be called upon to lift and carry objects between 10 and 50 lbs. Universal Workers will occasionally be called upon to carry in excess of 50 lbs. while assisting with tenant transfers.
Safety: Gait belts may be utilized to perform some job functions. Universal Workers must be capable of using gait belts efficiently and safely pursuant to facility policies. Universal Workers must be familiar with and follow all facility safety policies.
Sight Requirements: Universal Workers are required to have vision corrected to average, to assess and respond to tenants, family members, physicians, co-workers, and others.
Hearing Requirements: Universal Workers are required to have an average range of hearing, as corrected, to assess and respond to tenants, family members, physicians, co workers, and others.
Socialization Requirements: Universal Workers are required to maintain excellent socialization and communication skills in and around tenants, family members, physicians, co workers, and others.
Other Physical Requirements: Universal Workers will frequently be called upon for bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, or crawling and work in a standing position for an extended period of time. Must be mobile in all areas of the assisted living facility. Small hand motions such as grasping or pinching are required. These activities will primarily be utilized during resident care. Universal Workers must be mobile in all resident areas.
Environment:
- Exposure to general tenant care environment.
- Exposure to tenant variables such as inappropriate language or physical behaviors due to compromised mental capacity.
- Exposure to moderate temperature variations.
- Substantial exposure to pharmacological preparations, biologicals, potential biohazard materials including blood and other bodily fluids and medical sharp objects.
- Moderate exposure to cleaning solutions, perfumes, dyes, etc.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Very frequent work interruptions.
- Must work in groups, teams or on your own as directed.
- Extended or variable hours may be required.
