The Procurement Specialist for Warehouse Supplies is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing all materials and supplies necessary for the effective operation of the warehouse. This includes safety equipment, general supplies, and warehouse infrastructure materials. This role requires a strong focus on cost-effective purchasing while ensuring the timely availability of quality supplies to support uninterrupted warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing: Source and purchase warehouse supplies, including but not limited to safety equipment, packaging materials, cleaning supplies, and general operational tools.
- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms. Evaluate and negotiate contracts with vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of warehouse supplies, ensuring that stock levels are maintained to prevent operational disruptions. Work closely with Warehouse Operations to anticipate needs and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Cost Management: Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities, alternative suppliers, and product innovations that can enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Compliance: Ensure that all purchased supplies comply with relevant regulatory and safety standards. Work closely with the Quality Assurance and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to company policies.
- Order Processing: Manage the end-to-end order process, including the creation of purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and resolving any issues related to delayed shipments or product quality.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance. Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in procurement practices to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve supplier relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field; relevant work experience accepted in place of a degree
- 2-4 years of purchasing or materials management experience, preferably in a warehouse, manufacturing, or FDA-controlled environment
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Knowledge of procurement practices, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Understanding procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and make informed purchasing decisions.
