Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Technician III – Paramedic provides advanced patient care and clinical support in the Emergency Department under RN or LIP supervision. Working within Texas DSHS Paramedic scope and facility policies, this role performs validated clinical procedures, documentation, and unit support tasks. As the highest level in the ED Technician series, the Paramedic uses advanced skills to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Prepare accurate admission and discharge charts.

  • Monitor and process provider orders.

  • Complete test requisitions with correct patient information.

  • Provide emergency medical care within Paramedic scope under ED LIP direction.

  • Perform approved Paramedic procedures per Texas DSHS, facility policy, and competencies.

  • Communicate patient changes promptly and document care in the EHR.

  • Prioritize and deliver safe, patient-centered emergency care.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.

  • Document patient interventions and information accurately.

  • Follow all hospital safety and infection-prevention standards.

  • Maintain a safe patient environment.

  • Assist with restraint application and monitoring per policy.

  • Use standard precautions and perform hand hygiene consistently.

  • Provide thorough hygienic care.

  • Obtain and document accurate vital signs.

  • Recognize and report abnormal findings promptly.

  • Collect and document I&Os and specimens.

Qualifications


Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of Paramedicine or equivalent: Read, Write, and Communicate effectively in English required.

Required Certification:   Texas Department of State Health Services - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician will not be accepted in lieu of State License or Certification); BLS (current)

Within Six (6) months of hire date: ACLS, PALS

Preferred: Experience as a Paramedic.
