HOURLY POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION:     Extruder Helper

REPORTS TO:     Shift Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:     Production/Extrusion

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

 1.           Assists the Operator and also accountable for minimizing waste and maximizing productivity for all orders run on the machine.

 2.           Performs or assists in performing roll changes, machine loading, changeovers, trim disposal and cleaning up the machine area.

 3.           Provides assistance during changeovers to include but not limited to, chill rolls, rubber rolls, screen packs, etc.

 4.           Records weights and roll numbers of material put on the machine as required while checking to assure material is the proper construction.

 5.           Assists the Operator in corrective actions as directed.

 6.           Assists the Operator in performing routine preventive maintenance, monitoring instruments, and operating conditions.

 7.            Operates in an efficient manner, maintains awareness of job safety aspects, and applies safe work practices at all times.

 8.            Must be capable of setting up and operating, blending, and poly feed systems.

 9.          Responsible for notifying production forklift operator before running out of raw material.

 10.          Responsible for obtaining raw stock samples for the Lab as required.

 11.          Assists the Operator by operating crane, putting rolls on and taking finished material off machine, setting trim knives, handling drool pans, and any other tasks as directed by the Operator.

 12.          Must be watching the machine to monitor quality at all times and does not leave the machine without notifying the Operator.

 13.          Responsible for maintaining the machine and area in a condition consistent with good housekeeping practices.
