ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees staff involved in supporting local, regional operations and our OTR fleet
- Lead, provide direction to, and development of direct reports in order to maximize business results, establish succession candidates, and provide career opportunities for employees.
- Directs short-term and long-term planning of strategic goals
- Oversee the establishment of staffing requirements and ensure adequate staffing to support business needs while meeting plan.
- Continually improve operational performance by seeking new methods, procedures, processes, and materials.
- Oversees operational account support teams, centralized customer service , recruiting and maintenance
- Implements new business and assures start-up success
- Establish budgets and budget controls for departments and stations, equipment and facilities, including budgets for staffing and capital expenditures
- Full P+L responsibility
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
- Job requires the ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen.
- Job will require regular and punctual attendance as well as presence on-site at the assigned work location.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates effective negotiation and closing techniques
- Strong understanding of the truckload industry to include equipment types, carrier capabilities, pricing and regulations
- Strong understanding of US Geography
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Works well in a team environment
EDUCATION AND DIRECT WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED/Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 15 years’ brokerage experience, including 5 years in management of a brokerage operation
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
