The Process Scientist II Chromatography performs professional chemist assignments requiring full use and application of standard chromatography principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This role is focused on scientific research, development, and testing of new products, processes, and raw materials including: developing purification methods, demonstrating separations at small scale using bench-top SMB units or preparative batch columns, and performing kilo lab separations under cGMP conditions . This position aids projects in meeting established schedules or resolving complex technical or operational problems. Works under general supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding and wide application of chromatography’s technical principles, theories, and concepts. General knowledge of other disciplines.
- Participates in production support including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives.
- Perform experiments in a timely manner under the guidance of the lead chemist.
- Assist engineering and analytical teams with technical transfer questions offering production support.
- Assist in preparation of technical reports and lead portions of customer call.
- Must be able to work efficiently individually and as a team by sharing ideas and adapting to change.
- Ability to solve problems and has strong organizational and planning skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree or 0-2 years of related experience and a master's degree or equivalent experience.
- PhD (preferred), Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or a relevant field.

- Knowledge of analytical techniques for active pharmaceutical ingredients
- Knowledge of chromatography principles
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles
- Knowledge of basic chemistry principles
- Organized, detail oriented and safety conscious
- Knowledge of thermodynamic, mathematical modelling and process optimization preferred;
- Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing preferred

On-site laboratory, office and pilot plant. Shift coverage (day, swing, night) will be periodically required.
Must be able to lift and move 25 lbs.
