Foster Youth Specialist - Kern County Network for Children (KCNC) (Open & Promotional) en Kern County Superintendent of Schools

Under general supervision the Foster Youth Specialist will assist foster youth and emancipated youth with accessing a continuum of supportive services, obtaining and maintaining employment, succeeding in educational and/or vocational services, and meeting their basic needs. The Foster Youth Specialist will work with county departments, education agencies, community-based organizations, and grassroots community groups in an effort to help current and former foster youth can successfully transition to adulthood and become self-sufficient. The Foster Youth Specialist will assist the Foster Youth Services Facilitator in the implementation of case management and crisis intervention services for foster youth at school sites and on site at the Kern County Network for Children’s Foster Service Resource Center. This will include outreach, linkage, assessment, case management and advocacy for the needs of the youth.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two (2) years of experience working directly with foster and/or emancipated youth. $3,776 - $4,560 per month. Maximum entry level for external candidates is $4,153 per month. Salary step placement for promotional candidates is based upon Rules of the Personnel Commission.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license and privately owned automobile insurance for the duration of the assignment. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
