About the Urgent Care Program
The Behavioral Health Urgent Care Clinic (BHUCC) is the first program of it's kind in the Kansas City area that provides the community immediate, same-day access to psychiatric medication for mental health and substance use needs. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the BHUCC team provides care to clients every day of the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the client's and community's needs.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and interact with a caseload of clients with diverse characteristics either in-person or over the phone.
- Facilitate each client’s application for Medicaid.
- Engage difficult to serve clients by investigating all potential resources in order to gain access and make connections.
- Help remove barriers for clients, which may include helping clients participate in community or social service programs and referring clients to educational or working programs.
- Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
- Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.
- Assist clients and families in completing Medicaid applications and related documentation.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility status for behavioral health services.
- Educate clients on Medicaid benefits, requirements, and processes.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless access to services.
- Serve as a resource for staff and clients regarding Medicaid and other coverage options.
Requirements of the Position
- 4 year degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work hours.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 11:00am-7:30pm
- At least two (2) years clinical experience in a direct service in a mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of the community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
- Previous experience with working to help individuals with Medicaid is highly preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
