    JOB TITLE:        Assistant Principal

    JOB SUMMARY:
     
    The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing instructional leadership and operational management for all TK–8 programs. This includes implementing equitable policies, promoting a positive school climate, fostering staff development, overseeing student discipline and attendance, coordinating school operations, and engaging families and the broader community to ensure academic and social-emotional success for all students.

    REPORTS TO:
    Principal

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • 203 work days contracted.
    • Salary based on education and experience.
    • Administrative Salary Schedule.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
    Credential:
    • Valid California Administrative Services Credential
      Education:
    • Master's degree in education or related field.
      Experience:
    • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience (K-8 preferred)
    • Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, staff supervision, and student support programs
    • Experience with English Learner programs and culturally responsive education preferred
    • Experience with PBIS and MTSS strategies
      Personal Qualities:
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse students, families, and staff
    • Commitment to equity and positive school culture
    • Effective oral and written communication skills in English (Spanish bilingual skills highly desirable)
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Proven leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to make decisions and provide positive leadership.
    • Valid California Driver's License.
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION:
    Leadership and Management
    • Support the Principal in all aspects of school administration and assume leadership in their absence.
    • Oversee daily school operations, including supervision of students, teachers, and classified staff.
    • Lead data-driven school improvement efforts and staff development initiatives aligned with district goals.
     Instructional Support
    • Observe and evaluate certificated and classified staff.
    • Assist in curriculum implementation and instructional materials management.
    • Support the coordination of assessments and data use to inform instruction.
    • Student Support and Discipline
    • Promote a safe, respectful, and positive school environment.
    • Implement restorative practices and positive behavior interventions.
    • Oversee attendance procedures, discipline referrals, and student support plans.
    Family and Community Engagement
    • Collaborate with parent groups, community partners, and advisory councils.
    • Communicate effectively with families regarding school programs and student progress.
    • Represent the school at district and community meetings.
    Operations and Safety
    • Manage facilities, emergency preparedness, and safety drills.
    • Support the scheduling of classes, supervision of activities, and use of school facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies.
