Senior Android Malware Analyst
About the role
As a Senior Android Malware Analyst, you will make an impact by identifying and analyzing mobile threats through reverse engineering of Android applications and malicious binaries. You will be a valued member of the Cybersecurity team and work collaboratively with threat analysts, security engineers, and mobile development experts to enhance mobile threat detection and protection capabilities
In this role, you will:
- Reverse engineer Android application packages (APKs) and malicious binaries to identify mobile threats.
- Conduct static and dynamic analysis of potentially harmful applications using tools such as IDA Pro or Olly.
- Classify and audit obfuscated code and binaries to detect malware patterns and vulnerabilities.
- Apply security standards like OWASP TOP 10, SANS TOP 25, and WASC to assess and improve application security.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to develop swift detection techniques and enhance threat response capabilities.
Work model: Hybrid

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 1 or 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in São Paulo. What you need to have to be considered
· Bachelor’s degree
· Advanced English
· Background with Android (OS and apps)
· Java Knowledge in Android Application development
· Analyze Android apps(APK) including binaries
· Identify mobile threats and classify them Reverse Engineering of malicious binaries
· Experience of Reverse Engineering on Android application Packages (APKs)
· Malware analysis experience with swift detection techniques of analyzing malicious binaries
These will help you stand out
· Potentially Harmful Applications (PHA) classification on the Android platform.
· Familiarity with assembly language and handling obfuscated code.
· Exposure to popular application security standards such as OWASP TOP 10, OWASP ESAPI, SANS TOP 25, and WASC.
· Malware analysis tools like IDA Pro or Olly.
· Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
