The role:
Join our dynamic team as a Permanent Full-Time Harvest Operator and play a vital role in our aquaculture operations. Based on our prawn farm in the stunning region between Airlie Beach and Bowen, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe harvesting of our product using a variety of heavy machinery. This is a diverse role where no two days are the same; outside of the core harvest periods, you will contribute to essential farm maintenance and civil works, ensuring the ongoing success and upkeep of our facilities.

You will enjoy a fantastic work/life balance with a roster that adapts to the season: from May to December, work a 10.5-hour day on a 4/3 roster (four days on, three days off), and from December to May, transition to a standard Monday-Friday week with 8.5-hour shifts.

Please note that during the peak season (November and December), this role will require some travel and work at our farm in Mission Beach.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate a wide range of heavy machinery including backhoes, excavators, skid steers, trucks, Moxys, graders, and tractors to efficiently harvest prawns.
  • Complete all tasks with an unwavering commitment to safety, strictly adhering to all company safety regulations and procedures.
  • Deliver on a variety of general farm and civil works needs, including but not limited to roadworks, groundskeeping, seaweed harvesting, waste pile removal, and truck driving.
  • Collaborate effectively as a key member of a great team to achieve daily operational goals.
  • Utilise an iPad to receive and manage job instructions and tasks.


Role requirements:

  • Proven competence and a valid ticket/licence in operating a backhoe or excavator (essential).
  • A reliable, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • A valid standard car (Class C) driver's licence is required; a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience operating heavy machinery in various conditions.
  • For tractor operation, proven skill in towing long trailers in tight, confined areas.
  • Basic technology skills to proficiently use an iPad for work instructions.
  • The physical ability to work in all weather conditions, including rain.
  • Availability to work some weekends throughout the season and for travel to Mission Beach during the peak period (November and December).
  • Legal right to work in Australia.
  • Aquaculture or agriculture experience is highly desirable.
