Vice President of Revenue
At AOE, the Vice President of Revenue spearheads our initiatives to drive the company's market expansion and impact. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to boost revenue growth, improve customer acquisition and retention, foster partnerships, and increase enterprise value. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Revenue reports directly to the company President.
Structured as a remote full-time, salaried, exempt position. We have been a 100% remote company since the beginning! This position is eligible for remote work from the following locations: USA.

Job Details
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Company Strategy, Key Performance Indicators, and Performance Management
- Acts as an integral member of the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic decisions, resource allocation, and investment priorities.
- Provides leadership and strategic insights during AOEU’s annual planning process, helping define key metrics to measure goal achievement.
- Develops, implements, and monitors key metrics for sales, customer success, and functions, aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Oversees the execution of growth function departmental plans, resources, systems, and reporting, ensuring alignment with both departmental and company-wide goals.
- Regularly collaborates with department senior leaders to review KPIs and evaluate performance, supporting AOEU's go-to-market strategy
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue strategic partnership opportunities with complementary organizations, platforms, and institutions to expand product offerings, enhance customer value, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
B2S (Business to School) Sales and Account Management
- Leads the development of sales strategies targeting state and regional education agencies, including government relations.
- Builds, leads, and oversees the sales, customer success, and support functions of the company, creating exposure to and business opportunities with prospects, customers, and partners.
- Proactively develops and mentors sales, customer success, and support department managers and staff, assigns territories, provides messaging and strategies, and sets quotas.
- Directly manages and supports the Regional Sales Managers. Collaborates in their professional development. Assists in their deal progression and closure..
- Works closely with other AOEU divisions to foster collaborative relationships that enhance market positioning, drive growth in new, expansion, and renewal subscription sales, and ensure consistent customer retention.
- Monitors and manages the performance of sales, customer success, and support teams by conducting regular team meetings, quarterly business reviews, and supporting the development of expertise in AOEU solutions.
- Travel up to 50% is required for this position.
Financial Administration
- Supports the financial management, policies, and fiscal accountability of the organization, working in close cooperation with the CFO.
- Works with the CFO to develop, manage, and monitor budgets for the sales, customer success, and partnership functions.
- Establishes a consistent framework and process to ensure accurate revenue forecasting at both the company and function levels.
- Oversees the implementation of company-approved pricing to ensure accuracy in quoting, forecasting, and order booking.
Since AOE operates in a fully remote/online environment, requirements include frequent and prolonged use of computers and other technology, the ability to enter information into a computer using a keyboard or alternative.

- Proven success in making informed, high-impact decisions in fast-paced, evolving business environments.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to craft and deliver clear, persuasive presentations.
- Skilled at influencing and driving consensus among cross-functional senior leaders toward shared strategic goals.
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models, customer lifecycle, and revenue optimization levers (preferred for this role).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE
- Extensive (5+ years) professional experience in senior, growth leadership (sales and customer success) roles, particularly within high-growth SaaS companies.
- Experience in B2S sales, including working with state, regional, and local education agencies.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing sales and customer success teams to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets and forecasts.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred; Master’s Degree a plus.
The Interview Process
For most roles, the process is as follows:
- Step 1: ~30-minute phone interview with the Director of Team and Culture
- Step 2: Round 2 packet & corresponding panel interview: This step is intended to see how you might work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges that could arise in this role. You will be given a brief prompt and be asked to complete an assignment, which will then be used to guide a ~1-hour follow-up Zoom interview with stakeholders. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy.
- Step 3: Executive Panel Interview: 1.5-hour Zoom to meet with members of the Executive Team
- Step 4: Final Interview: Final 1-hour Zoom interview with any remaining stakeholders
