Reports to Director of Retail Sales
Location: Remote – Candidate must reside in the Southern U.S. region
Job Summary:
The Retail National Sales Manager (RT-NSM) is responsible for achieving volume, revenue, and profit goals across the Retail Channel in the Southern U.S. This position leads strategic account development, sales agency management, and cross-functional execution while driving sales growth and retail presence for customer private label brands and the company’s branded product portfolio.
Reporting to the Director of Retail, the RT-NSM develops short- and long-term customer strategies and builds strong retail partnerships. The role also includes pricing and contract management, sales forecasting, promotional strategy development, and sales agency training.
Office Environment: 30% of the work is conducted in an office setting, involving time spent on computer research, project management, and communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings, including project updates, strategy sessions, and presentations to management and stakeholders.
Travel: Up to 70%
Key Responsibilities:
- Own sales performance for assigned regional and national retail accounts, distributors, and sales agencies.
- Develop and execute customer-specific business plans aligned with overall Retail strategy.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers.
- Lead sales agency training on product portfolio and selling tools.
- Deliver regular business reviews and presentations on category performance.
- Lead team in Joint Business Planning, in-store execution, and S&OP forecasting.
- Manage trade spend, promotions, and pricing agreements to meet financial targets.
- Identify growth opportunities and new business prospects within target accounts.
- Ensure accurate completion of reports, call notes, planning calendars, and forecasts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, supply chain, category management, finance, operations, etc.) to drive account success.
- Represent and uphold the company’s Sales Philosophy—Productivity, Quality, Excellence, and Teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field.
- 7+ years of sales experience in the retail industry, preferably in food or CPG, with a focus on private label and branded products.
- Proven success managing national and regional retail/chain accounts.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, forecast performance, and manage financial targets.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strategic decision-making ability.
- Comfortable speaking and presenting to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Experience using ERP systems and Salesforce preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel up to 70%.
Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
- Must be able to communicate through various channels, including phone, email, face-to-face, and videoconferencing, effectively building and presenting organized data and plans to executive leadership, internal and external groups of various sizes, and key stakeholders.

At Cloverdale Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $100,000 - $115,000 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
