Position Summary: The automation Specialist is an engineering position that will improve various manufacturing processes and computer systems by automating specific parts of processes to work independently and automatically. They revise existing technology, so it requires less human interaction, and they monitor the performance of the implemented changes.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in office and systems automation design and implementation
  • Must Have experience researching and designing automation technology
  • Must have experience creating a connection between information inputs, controllers and outputs
  • Must Have experience developing tests and simulations to ensure the systems work as intended
  • Ability to work with a team as well as independently

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Wireless IoT communications
  • Understanding of technologies available to automate processes
  • Utility metering industry AMR/AMI experience
  • Understanding of communication systems.
  • Understanding of Human -machine interface
  • Computer programming skills a must
  • Ability to read and understand schematics

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with Zenner and vendor engineering teams to develop automation systems.
  • Work alongside other Zenner departments to create automation plans that align with Zenner business goals.
  • Lead the implementation of changes or new technology and oversee the quality assurance (QA) process.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency with automation and get approval from management to proceed
  • Research and design automation systems to streamline processes
  • Work cooperatively with hardware teams on automation tasks
  • Work cooperatively with network management software teams
  • Work with customers, sales, and support teams to understand needs and define requirements
  • All other duties as assigned
