What to Expect as Packaging Project Manager
As a Packaging Project Manager in Marketing for a leading CPG brand, this role serves as the strategic bridge between brand vision and shelf impact. Responsible for driving the development and execution of innovative, consumer-centric packaging solutions, the Packaging Manager collaborates cross-functionally with design, product development, regulatory, and supply chain teams to ensure packaging aligns with brand identity, sustainability goals, and market trends. This role oversees the end-to-end packaging lifecycle—from concept to commercialization—ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance, while continuously optimizing packaging to enhance consumer experience and drive brand growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all portions of the packaging development process in cooperation with cross-functionals to meet the projects timelines in an effective way
- Provide technical leadership and input during the design and production artwork phases of packaging production
- Request color standards and Ink drawdowns from print vendors as needed
- Track and maintain projects using production tracking documents to ensure product launch timelines
- Schedule pre-production meetings to review designs to ensure production success
- Route and review artwork and proofs with Marketing for approval
- Maintain client proofs as per SOP at DGIC facility
- DGIC Lead on Mediabox training and related workflow issues/updates
- Coordinate all sales samples labels from inception to production
- Coordinate and implement all system for eCommerce workflow with PI team
- Liaison with printer on any print technical issues
What You Bring
- End-to-End Packaging Project Management
- Demonstrated ability to lead packaging development from concept through production, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet tight timelines.
- Technical Packaging & Print Expertise
- Strong understanding of packaging design, color standards, ink drawdowns, and print production processes, with experience resolving technical issues with vendors.
- Artwork & Proofing Process Leadership
- Skilled in routing, reviewing, and approving artwork and proofs in collaboration with marketing, ensuring brand consistency and production readiness.
- Digital Workflow & System Proficiency
- Experience using tools like Mediabox or similar platforms for asset management, workflow updates, and training others on system use.
- Sales Sample & eCommerce Packaging Coordination
- Proven ability to manage sales sample label production and implement eCommerce packaging workflows in partnership with PI and production teams.

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $95,000 and $130,000 per year.
