Our Opportunity
GPJ is hiring a Senior Strategist to join our growing team.
This role is hybrid, requiring you to report on-site to one of the following office locations a minimum of 2 days/week: Los Angeles or San Francisco.
Your Role
You are a Senior Strategist, and your role revolves around implementing the strategy and planning efforts that shape the development of experiential and event marketing programs for both our current clients and potential clients. The Strategy & Planning group plays a pivotal role at GPJ, and you are proud to be an important member of both the client and agency teams.
In this position, you will focus on building and nurturing strong trusted relationships with creative, account, and client teams to ensure ongoing client retention and advancement. You will work collaboratively with Account Management and Creative teams to drive success and growth in both our existing client accounts and in pursuing new business opportunities.
Your responsibilities include working effectively with various team leads, project managers, and creative teams to deliver strategy-led creative solutions. You will implement strategy and planning best practices on assigned client and new business accounts, covering research, planning, account planning, strategy, and analytics. You will diligently apply the GPJ strategy process in the of experiential marketing solutions, ensuring that it's clearly articulated to both internal and external audiences.
Another vital aspect of this role is packaging objectives, target audiences, key insights, program requirements, and success measures into concise briefs that inform and inspire the creative process. You will actively participate in ideation sessions, including writing briefs, leading brainstorming, and contributing to concepting sessions.
Furthermore, you will review, analyze, and offer recommendations to clients regarding their portfolio of events, aiming to align optimally with their annual event marketing plans.
You are dedicated to designing holistic, audience-centric strategies that incorporate physical, digital, social, and mobile channels, where appropriate, to create powerful 360º experiences. Additionally, you will proactively explore new experience strategies, technology-enabled engagements, and industry best practices to offer valuable guidance to clients and internal teams, strengthening our strategic recommendations.
Research and planning activities related to developing experience marketing solutions are also within my purview, which may include workshops, stakeholder interviews, primary and secondary research, and program auditing. You will continually consult with GPJ Strategy + Planning peers across all offices to leverage best practices and advice while providing the same support in return.
Moreover, you will play a role in assisting the development and implementation of measurement and analytics frameworks that incorporate key metrics and KPIs for experiences combining live, mobile, social, and digital components. This position demands extensive writing and presenting to clients and prospective clients, ensuring that our strategies are effectively communicated.

- Proficient in use of Windows environment (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point,) and other digital communications technologies (Salesforce, Chatter, Lync, Webex, etc.).

- Understanding of best practices regarding analytics and marketing measurement.

Marketing Expertise- Advanced knowledge of marketing and communications best practices and how they apply to our business, including Experiential/Event, Traditional, Digital, Social, Mobile and PR. Understanding of overall marketing and brand landscape. Understanding of analytics and measurement best practices and technologies.
Resourceful- Be decisive and fast acting. Self-direct without a need for constant supervision. Take control of situations and deliver proactively. Figure out a way to a solution in spite of the challenges. Over promise and over deliver.
Your Experience
Experience & Education
- Undergraduate degree is required and a graduate degree in business, marketing or communications is preferred
- Agency experience is preferred
- 5 to 7 years client/agency experience in a related role
- Experiential marketing, strategy, planning, research, account management experience preferred
- Experience in digital, social and mobile technologies, strategies and tactics.

Salary Range: $100k - $130k
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, and location.
